The truth behind the slowdown

That was a great recap of yesterday's leg from Michigan through Tennessee by Todd. However, I'm forced to admit that there were several reasons why we arrived a couple of hours late to our destination. Aside from getting a late start, the cops in Ohio did not seem to like us very much.. In fact, one of them, Mr. Badge #1224 of Ohio state police could not handle our speed. So he decided to set us $95 bucks in the hole for going faster than allowed. Ok, the funky thing is that he required that payment be made on the spot with a credit card.. so whatever Mr. 1224.. It was fun and just so you know, most people on their way from New York to Ecuador speed through Ohio (sample size=1).

Leaving Michigan we stopped at Todd's friend, Josh's, place. He and his wife are very nice and they even have a wonderful cat, Beaner.

Now, the icing on the yesterday's driving cake was secretely hiding in a Kentucky gas station's gents restroom.. it's called the "Xcelerator" .. you have to see these hand dryers.. it was a real pleasure to drive your hands in less than the usual 5 minutes it takes.. normally, when I dry my hands with a regular dryer, I have to leave with my hands still wet because it takes too long.. not so with the Xcelerator which does the job in a few seconds.. (Check out how the mighty air stream deforms your skin in weird shapes!..) Truly awesome!!

Finally, I have to say that the Dolak family was incredible in keeping me well fed, clean and rested. It was wonderful and their home is georgeus.. in fact, their bathroom is bigger than some apartments I've lived in before! Thanks for the Atlas too!.. I trust Todd's sense of direction but hey.. you never know! :)
