A Perfect Streak

Day 4 is upon us and Jose is now a perfect 4 for 4 when it comes to oversleeping. Luckily last night should be the last night that he sleeps in a comfortable bed for a while. I can't complain too much since he has been doing all of the real work (insert your own joke about hispanic laborers here). Although I have been giving him the nicer sleeping arrangements and taking the floor and couches for myself.

For the most part yesterdays driving was uneventful. We made great time and powered through the rest of Tennesee, Arkansas and the northeast portion of Texas.

If there is one thing you can say about Texas, it is huge. With the exception of Columbia and Mexico it is larger than any of the countries we are going to drive through, including Jose's beloved Ecuador. Luckily it is nice and flat with good expressways (Texas that is, Ecuador is about as flat as Michal and has only slightly better roads than Boaz). By the way, Shalom to all of our Israeli supporters. Especially Asaf who made the first international comment, toda raba (sorry Mark, even though we used passports to cross the border we refuse to recognize Canada as "international" since we paid with US dollars at Tim Horton's).

Now where was I, oh yeah onto Day 4. Today will be a relatively low mileage driving day. We are happy to report that we crossed 2000 miles on the trip yesterday and are using today to make sure the car is in perfect shape for the trek ahead. Jose just dropped it off at the Volkswagen dealership and is getting everything checked out and repaired. We should hit the open road a little later this afternoon and are planning to spend the night in San Antonio, although regretably this means we will need to pay for our first night of lodging as we know no one in San Antonio (any loyal blog readers want to offer up accomodations at a former college roommate's ex-girlfriend's niece's place or something?). Last night one of G-Willie's buddies from undergrad was gracious enough to host us at his apartment in Dallas. Big shout outs to Jeff, Chris and Robin and if you are ever in the Dallas area make sure to check out Kuai Dumplings for some of the best steamed dumplings you've ever tasted.

This reminds me, we now have another soldier on the trip as we have acquired G-Willie to join the Texican leg with Jose and myself. Not only does this give us another driver, but he will also be playing the pretty boy role on the trek. This position is extremely important as it involves dual tasks. He will be in charge of both attracting senioritas and also distracting banditos. We'll test his skills tonight to see if he can score some tail at Texas Beauty College and save us the cost of a hotel room.

The addition of Greg means that we only have one more fellow traveller to pick up. I believe Alexey is currently still trying to smuggle himself into Bulgaria. If you're reading this little buddy, hope the Eastern European travels are going well and Andare l'Italia. Also I'd like to send our condolences to all of our German readers, although you can take some solace in knowing that you were gracious hosts for this year's World Cup. In a way, when it comes to the World Cup everyone is a winner. Except for the US, they couldn't even beat Ghana.

Tim Duncan here we come.
